Sub-project 04

Objective: produce automatic subtitles from French into English, Spanish, Chinese, Italian and Portuguese.

On the one hand, prioritizing the languages concerned is determined by international linguistic use, but also by the richness of the audiovisual production and its economic impact. Under the responsibility of SYSTRAN, two options will be developed to produce automatic captioning into the chosen languages:

• The first one is developing translating models for close captions in French into each previously mentioned language;
• The second one completes transcription from speech to French, then produces subtitles directly in each language.
